Chloe Hawthorne is forced to sign a six-year marriage contract to save her beloved Richard Vance, so she marries his twin brother, Edward Vance, in a wealthy alliance. During the six years, Edward allows his mistress Vivian Morrison to humiliate Chloe and makes Chloe, a rich heiress, care for Vivian’s three illegitimate children. Chloe endures everything silently, and when the contract ends, she divorces Edward and reunites with Richard. Only then does Edward learn Vivian’s true nature and realize he loves Chloe. He rushes to the sanatorium to find her, only to discover he was merely Richard’s substitute.
