Faking Rich, Marrying Richer is a modern urban romantic comedy. Ethan, a poor mechanic, and Sophia, a penniless young woman, both pretend to be wealthy elites to hunt rich partners at luxury banquets. They mistake each other for millionaires and start a mutual deception filled with fancy rented venues and cheap counterfeit jewelry. They flirt, scheme against one another, yet secretly develop genuine affection amid constant bickering. After their fake identities are fully exposed, the pair fall into bitter quarrels and repeatedly sabotage each other’s new wealthy targets. Through accidents, debt troubles and trivial daily hardships, they drop their vain masks, understand each other’s inner loneliness, and choose to face poverty side by side. Finally, they run a small auto shop honestly, trading empty luxurious fantasies for down-to-earth sincere love.
