The last call

On the eve of her wedding, undercover detective Rina Ishikawa receives one final assignment: return to Vinny Marchetti—the former fiancé she abandoned without explanation five years ago—and investigate his crime family’s fentanyl operation. Using the excuse that she is looking for work, Rina goes back to Vinny’s bar, The Last Call, only to discover that he is now a contender to become the family’s new don. Meanwhile, the love she buried and the lies she has carried for years threaten to surface at any moment. As the investigation deepens, a long-buried mystery surrounding the death of Vinny’s mother comes to light—and the mastermind behind it is none other than Vinny’s own brother. Torn between her badge and the man she still loves, Rina struggles to find her way through a maze of deception and truth. When her undercover identity is publicly exposed during the family’s leadership election, she throws herself in front of a bullet meant for Vinny. Beneath her bulletproof vest, two hearts are finally laid bare. In the end, Rina resigns from the police force and returns to the bar. Vinny brings their decade-long story of lies, love, and loyalty full circle with a wedding at The Last Call.
