Shen Xiuzhi had been sponsoring the orphan Yu Qingyuan for many years, but after marriage, he became celibate and cold. Yu Qingyuan, celebrating a project's success by offering him an aphrodisiac, failed. She then unexpectedly discovered hundreds of photos of her stepsister, Shen Wanrou, on her husband's computer, realizing she was a stand-in. Shen Xiuzhi drove Shen Wanrou away and forced her into a marriage alliance, ordering his special assistant, Zhou Lin, to restore Yu Qingyuan's belongings. He then pursued her to Yuncheng. A guesthouse owner witnesses Xie Chengyan and Yu Qingyuan passionately kissing, leading to a confrontation with Xie Chengyan. Yu Qingyuan publicly accuses Shen Xiuzhi, who, unwilling to accept this, forcibly kisses her and is slapped. Torn between Shen Xiuzhi's remorse and desperate attempts to win her back, and Xie Chengyan's passionate yet rational love, Yu Qingyuan chooses a sober approach to life, but doesn't shut her heart off, instead accepting Xie Chengyan openly. Ultimately, she and Xie Chengyan achieve a happy ending.
Shen Xiuzhi and Shen Wanrou finally face their comeuppance. Shen Xiuzhi is filled with remorse; the cage that imprisoned her has become his own prison.
