From Ares's Throne to Zeus's Bed

Althea, a mortal princess, was forced to marry into the temple of Ares, the God of War. On her wedding day, Ares left for his lover, Callisto, and she guarded the temple alone for three years. She sent ninety‑nine letters—all ignored—and exhausted her dowry, only to learn her mother had been tortured to death by her stepmother. When Ares returned, he found her pregnant. Callisto falsely accused her of adultery. Enraged, Ares flogged her, dragged her through the streets, and stabbed her abdomen, causing her to lose the child. As she lay dying, Zeus arrived and revealed the truth: the child was his, and she was his secret queen. From a cast‑out mortal to the queen of divine judgment, her revenge had only just begun.
