Noah Reed, a down-on-his-luck emergency room male nurse, pushes open the bathroom door backstage at a nightclub and finds Adrian Vale, the shot and bleeding heir to a crime family, sitting on the edge of the bathtub. Adrian orders him to lock the door, for if Noah is spotted by their enemies, he will become the sole witness to the mafia's traitor case. To protect Noah, and to evade the political marriage arranged by his family, Adrian yanks Noah into a passionate kiss in front of everyone and declares him his boyfriend. Noah thinks he's nothing more than a pawn for Adrian, yet through their time in the safe house, the family's tribunal, the nightclub escape, and the bathroom first-aid to stop the bleeding, he gradually realizes that this dangerous man has long since regarded him as his soft underbelly. The crime family sees Noah as an embarrassment, the rival gang sees him as a vulnerability, and Noah himself is terrified that this fake relationship might turn into something real. At the end of Episode 5, the family tribunal demands that Noah personally deny their relationship, but he counters: If I’m fake, why did you take a bullet for me? As gunshots ring out, Adrian steps in front of him once again.
