During a zombie apocalypse, Lily is betrayed by her boyfriend Bryce and left to die, only to be rescued by Kane, the Zombie King. Kane protects her, and they develop a deep bond. Later, Bryce and their starving classmates find Lily living comfortably. Attempting to exploit her parents' safe-zone status, they attack her when she refuses. Kane rescues the injured Lily, but the classmates seek refuge on their bus and betray her again, pushing her into a zombie horde.
Kane uses his power to protect Lily, but Bryce shoots him in the abdomen. Lily fights back, leaving her classmates to be devoured while escaping with the severely wounded Kane. Meanwhile, Bryce reaches the safe zone but is imprisoned as an experimental subject by Lily's father, and the deceased Grace mutates into a vengeful zombie. Grace later allies with a giant zombie to attack them. To save Lily, Kane exhausts his power to defeat the giant zombie and collapses from his injuries, leaving his fate in Lily's hands.
