An elderly father was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. Aware that he had little time left, he chose to forgo chemotherapy so as not to burden his three children with hefty medical bills, voluntarily giving up medical treatment. His greatest wish was to have one last full family reunion dinner together.
On Christmas Day, the mother prepared a lavish feast well ahead of time. The couple waited anxiously at home the entire day, only to receive one evasive phone call after another from their children. Soon afterward, the father’s condition took a drastic turn for the worse and he passed away, never having gotten all his children by his side in his final moments. To fulfill her late husband’s dying wish of a family gathering, the mother lied that she had won a massive lottery prize out of the blue, tricking her three children, who seldom came home anymore, into returning to the house.
