Dominic, the Godfather of the Mafia, resists close contact due to childhood trauma. FBI psychologist Elena disguises herself as a wealthy heiress to approach him and gather evidence about his crimes; during their interactions, she empathizes with his suffering.
After an ambush, they develop feelings for each other, and Elena abandons her mission. When her identity is exposed, she chooses to stay by Dominic's side. Ultimately, he turns himself in in exchange for protection, and the two travel to a coastal town to open a clinic where they heal one another.
