Pastry chef Chloe saves a wounded mafia boss James and flees, leaving behind only a commemorative coin and the scent of vanilla. Her fake best friend Vanessa falsely claims the credit. To get close to Vanessa, James disguises himself as a clumsy baking apprentice and ends up working in Chloe’s failing pastry shop. In the flour-dusted kitchen, he’s all thumbs, but Chloe recognizes him as the man she saved and panics, hiding her secret. Despite the chaos, they fall for each other. But Vanessa’s lies are about to unravel, and a rival gang attacks the shop. James shields Chloe at every turn; she finally stops running and uses her wits to save him. When the truth comes out, James realizes his savior and his love are one person. He chooses to leave the underworld and stay by her side, trading his armor for an apron. The hardest heart melts in the sweetest everyday life.
