Chu Xi is the daughter of the Chu family who went missing in her childhood and was adopted by Taoist Qingfeng at the Baihe Temple. Having missed her time for ascension and with her karma still unresolved, her master sent her down the mountain to repay her debt to the Chu family. Upon descending, Chu Xi met Fu Jinxiu, the heir of the Fu family, who had been framed and left physically frail. As they spent time together, feelings grew between them, but they faced numerous setbacks, including schemes by Chu Lan and Fu Guansong. To save Fu Jinxiu, Chu Xi did not hesitate to deplete her spiritual power to help him cleanse a gu poison. Eventually, Chu Xi exposed the conspiracy of Chu Lan and Chu Jingye and resolved the Fu family's crisis. At this point, Chu Xi had lost all her spiritual power. After returning to Baihe Temple and asking her master, she learned that once the poison was cleared, her spiritual power would recover and she would be able to ascend. Chu Xi decided to take Fu Jinxiu to cultivate with her, pursuing the path of ascension together.
